Serving Birmingham
Residential glass for Birmingham's historic and modern homes
Birmingham has some of the most character-rich housing in Alabama. Neighborhoods such as Highland Park, Forest Park, Glen Iris, Redmont Park, Crestwood and Avondale are filled with early 20th-century Craftsman bungalows, Tudors and four-squares, many with original wood windows and older bathrooms that are ready for an update.
Hankins Glass is based about a dozen miles south in Hoover, an easy trip up I-65 or US-31 over Red Mountain. We serve homeowners across the city with the same free in-home estimate and careful installation we provide closer to home.

Custom Mirrors detailsGlass projects that fit Birmingham homes
Older homes often have tall double-hung wood windows that rattle, stick or let in drafts. When the frames are sound, some homeowners choose to replace cracked or foggy glass and keep the original look. When the windows are past saving, replacement double-hung windows with grids can preserve the style of the house while cutting drafts and outside noise, which matters on busier streets near Southside and Five Points South.
Bathrooms in older Birmingham homes are often small, which is exactly where clear glass helps most. A frameless shower panel or door in place of a curtain makes a compact bath look larger, and a custom mirror cut to fit an awkward wall or vanity can make the room feel finished.
We also work in Birmingham's newer neighborhoods and renovated lofts, where large picture windows and walk-in tile showers are common.

Do you work on older homes in Birmingham's historic neighborhoods?
Yes. We'll look at the condition of your existing windows and talk through options that suit the house. If your property is in a locally designated historic district, check whether exterior changes need review before you order replacement windows.
How far is Birmingham from your base?
