Commercial Glass

Commercial & Storefront Glass in Birmingham and Hoover, AL

Storefronts, entrance doors, interior glass partitions, bullet-resistant glazing and commercial glass repair, installed as a subcontractor for builders and general contractors.

Commercial Glass

A glass subcontractor that fits your schedule

Most of Hankins Glass's commercial work comes through builders and general contractors. When you need the glass package on a new building or a remodel handled by a crew that shows up when scheduled, measures carefully and leaves a clean opening for the next trade, that's the job we want.

We furnish and install storefront glass and aluminum storefront framing, commercial entrance doors, interior glass partitions and office fronts, bullet-resistant glazing, commercial mirrors and replacement glass for existing buildings across the Birmingham area. We are based in Hoover and work within about 75 miles, from Birmingham and Homewood to Trussville and Tuscaloosa.

Business and property owners are welcome to call us too, whether it's a broken storefront pane, a door that no longer closes right, or a tenant build-out that needs glass walls.

Options

Commercial glass we install

Every commercial scope is different. These are the systems and services we're most often asked to price.

Storefront glass

Replacement and new glass for retail, restaurant and office storefronts, including tempered and insulated glass where the opening or code calls for it.

Aluminum storefront systems

Aluminum storefront framing with glass infill for new storefronts and remodels, fabricated to the field-verified opening and installed, anchored and sealed.

Commercial doors

Aluminum storefront entrance doors and frameless all-glass tempered doors, plus adjustments and replacement of closers, pivots and other door hardware.

Interior glass partitions

Glass office fronts, conference rooms and partition walls, framed or frameless, including glass doors, to bring daylight into interior spaces.

Bullet-resistant glass

Bullet-resistant glazing for transaction windows, reception areas and entries, supplied and installed to the protection level your plans or security consultant specify.

Commercial mirrors & glass repair

Restroom and locker-room mirrors, wall mirrors for gyms and studios, and replacement of broken, cracked or foggy glass in existing commercial windows and doors.

Working with builders and general contractors

Send us the plans, specifications and glazing schedule for your project and we'll put together pricing for your bid. If anything in the documents is unclear, such as glass makeup, frame finish, door hardware or how the storefront ties into the surrounding wall, we'll ask questions early instead of guessing.

Once the openings are framed, we field-measure before anything is ordered, because storefront framing and glass are made to size. We'll give you an estimated lead time and schedule installation around the other trades so the glazing doesn't hold up drywall, paint or final inspections. If your project requires submittals or product data, tell us up front and we'll talk through what's needed.

New construction and remodels

On new construction, we install storefront systems, entrance doors and interior glass once the rough openings are ready, then return for any final adjustments during punch list.

On remodels and tenant improvements, we can remove existing storefront glass or framing, install new systems in the existing openings, and add interior glass walls or office fronts. Remodel work often happens while neighboring businesses are open, so we keep the work area tidy and coordinate noisy or disruptive steps with you.

Safety glass and code requirements

Glass in doors, sidelights and many storefront locations must be safety glazing, typically tempered or laminated glass. Energy code may also call for insulated glass in exterior storefronts. We follow what your plans specify and will flag anything that looks like it may conflict with code requirements so it can be resolved with the design team before glass is ordered.

Is It Time?

Do you work as a subcontractor for general contractors?

Yes. Most of our commercial work is done as a glass subcontractor for builders and general contractors on new construction and remodels. Send us your plans and scope and we'll price the glass package.

Can you price a project from plans and specifications?

Yes. We can quote from drawings, specifications and the glazing schedule. Final dimensions are field-verified on site before materials are ordered, so the storefront and glass fit the actual openings.
